The Soul of the Rose

Description

Do not watch the petals fall from the rose with sadness, know that, like life, things sometimes must fade, before they can bloom again.      ~ UnknownI have a love affair with roses; roses of every colour, fragrant or otherwise. If you enter my home they will greet you there. Roses in art, roses in vases and even the memories of roses, now collected together as delicate dried petals of past celebrations. The rose has held symbolic meaning throughout human history.  It speaks to me of love, power, beauty, sensuality and mysticism.  All this past winter long I regarded with wonder a single red rose that remained intact at the end of a bare stem of my patio rose bush. This stalwart survivor, impervious to wind and cold, lingered on to bear its message.  Although the outward beauty of the bloom had long passed, the lasting inner strength and beauty remained intact, there to give way to re-birth come Spring. From bud to bloom to faded petals, the rose continues its promised cycle of life in every season. The soul of the rose, not unlike our own, lives onforever more.
